Kim & Aneal

Kim & Aneal

Kim & Aneal were married on 16th December 2012 at the beautiful Newton Hall in Northumberland.

When we first met Kim she had some great ideas to make her & Aneal's day very personal to them. We loved working woth her ideas & sourcing props such as the popcorn containers! We are in awe of her fabulous dress and as we are sure that most reader will be!

Here is their winter wedding story in Kim's words.......

"After searching for the perfect wedding venue we were running out of ideas.  We wanted somewhere opulent, quirky and private and Newton Hall was perfect.  It isn’t run like a hotel and all of our requests were catered for.  It’s pure luxury without being pretentious and from the moment we saw the venue we knew it had the laid back, cool atmosphere we wanted for our wedding

Taylor really stood out for us on the day, he made sure everyone was where they needed to be when they needed to be and nothing was too much trouble for him.  Along with all of the other members of staff he made every guest feel really special.

Mydress was designed and made by House of Mooshki. I had very specific ideas about my dress and after numerous visits to bridal shops it was apparent I wasn’t going to get what I wanted so decided to have my dress made. I worked with Viki at House of Mooshki and she was really patient with me and I got my dream wedding dress. On the day I felt amazing and I didn’t want to take it off!  The men wore classic morning suits in charcoal grey.

I wanted my hair to be quirky as a classic style would not have looked right with my dress. I went to my Hairdresser Emily from Towers Lee with an idea of the style I wanted and she created it perfectly.  I wanted my make up to last all day so Sarah from F.A.C.E Make up artistry did it for me, I trusted her so really I just left it up to her, all I asked for was heavy eye make up!!

We used Scott Spock Photography and they were amazing!!!We choose them because they were really quirky and had great ideas. We didn’t want classic wedding photographs, we wanted them to be more relaxed and we also wanted some really staged photos. We had a lot of children at the wedding and both Scott and Korrine were amazing with them and really patient. We’ve got lots of amazing shots but some of my favorites are on the beach and the ones where I am sitting on the fireplace and Aneal on the sofa.

We had a pre wedding shot in October on the beach, it was really worthwhile, we’ve got some amazing shots and it helped us feel at ease with the photographers so that there were no nerves on the wedding day.

I bought tons of wedding magazines and started a scrap book, cutting out everything that I loved. I looked at blogs and loved “Love my dress”. I mostly just spent my evenings and weekends trawling through the internet looking for great ideas. I also went to a few wedding fayres.

We booked with The Finishing Touch Company after going to a Wedding Fair at As You Like It.  They had a number of areas set up showcasing what they could do and supply and it all looked amazing.  We booked an appointment immediately.  After that our only problem was choosing what we wanted, there were so many options.  Charlotte was great at offering help and advice and was happy to supply as much or little as we wanted.  .  Throughout my time dealing with The Finishing Touch Company everything was easy and stress free and Charlotte was so helpful no matter how many questions I asked or how many times I changed my mind.

I I wanted a quirky vintage/carnival type theme, I wasn’t really concerned about sticking to one theme in particular but there were certain items I really wanted (like pom poms and popcorn holders).  Charlotte from The Finishing Touch Company ws really great and had some wonderful ideas and was really helpful in the lead up to my wedding.  She was able to provide everything I asked for without any problems at all.  I loved everything about the styling on the day, the room looked amazing, the popcorn holders for the centerpieces,  tea cups for place settings the Mr & Mrs Sign on the top table…the list goes on.  Everyone commented on the styling and said it looked amazing.

In the months running up to the wedding I visited vintage shops and picked up bits and pieces which would help complete the look on the day and Aneal made a kissing booth.

Our florist was bels flowers, we chose them as they were recommended by thevenue and work closely with The Finishing Touch Company and therefore we trusted that the flowers would be amazing. I wanted pale pink and peach subtle tones so the bouquet would have a vintage feel. Helen from bels used my favorite flowers for my table arrangements & for my bouquet and bridesmaid's who carried a smaller version of mine.

We framed a number of our close family members wedding photos and displayed them in a gorgeous cabinet in the hall, it was a great talking point and a lovely way of paying tribute to people who were not able to be there. We also hired a videographer so we can re live our day time and time again.

The cake was quite plain, we just wanted it Tiffany Blue and white.  “A truly Scrumptious Cake” made it for us and it was delicious.  We had 3 layers, vanilla sponge, Chocolate sponge and our favorite Chocolate Fudge!  The cake had pearls around each layer so that it tied in with the vintage theme of the day.

We ate a traditional roast, with sirloin of beef followed by a trio of deserts.  The kids ate burger and chips and ice cream.  The food was unbelievable and people are still commenting on how yummy it was.

We used my brother’s 1970’s Camper Van as our wedding car. Aneal wanted to drive it to the venue himself on the day. It looks great on the photos and we used it to get ourselves and the photographers to the beach!

We had a singer for the evening guests arriving, he sang some of our favorite songs.   For the evening we had a DJ and hired a photobooth from Snapparrazzi.  The photographers also set up one of the rooms for some “vintage fun” they brought lots of props and everyone had a great time dressing up! At the evening reception we had a Hog Roast, cooked outside on the patio, our guests couldn’t get enough!!

Kim's says..."If you put the time and effort into the planning of your wedding in the months leading up to it will be totally stress free on the day. Trust what your venue and suppliers tell you, they deal with weddings day in and day out. Don’t feel like you have to conform with what you think other people will want, if you have specific ideas go with them, it’s your day!"
